When I left another poorly lit or poorly decorated restaurant without even glancing at the menu, (Goldilocks, some friends used to call me because nothing was ever quite right). I knew it was time to find out why some spaces work for me and some, quite decidedly, do not.
I have spent years in financial journalism, in City traded commodities and then as a Mum, throughout which I have also spent a lifetime re-imagining and re-building homes. When, a quarter of a century after renovating my first home, I graduated as an Interior Designer from the KLC School of Interior Design in Chelsea Harbour, I knew I was ready to help more people re-design their homes.
Interior design is not about my style or your friends’ Instagram pages; it is all about translating you, your lifestyle, your likes and dislikes, your pass times, your aspirations, your history and your stories into your home. It is the expression of your unique way of living and style, whether you know what that is or not.
Our surroundings impact how we feel, and I believe that in our homes, we should manage that to our advantage, not put up with rooms that leave us feeling dreary. How do you want to feel in your kitchen or bedroom? I translate that into a room scheme, and I am passionate about it.
With the journalist’s inquisitive mind, I want to know how and why and what particular use of space, colours, textures, lighting and finishes work for you. Then, I want to help you use them so beautifully and uniquely that your home is a joy to you, whether it be a restful, inspiring, or stimulating space.
When it comes to the execution of your design, I understand the importance of working with skilled professionals. That’s why I collaborate with a team of dedicated tradespeople, each committed to delivering the highest quality work. From our fantastic decorator to our inspired upholsterer, and our group of builders, carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, we all share a common goal-to make your home safe, functional, practical, flawless, and aesthetically beautiful to you.
