The first step is for me to get to know you. No matter how much or how little you want me to do, it starts with coffee and chatting. Let’s meet in your home so that I can get a sense of how you live.
Do you gather treasures and have lots to display, or are you more minimalist, is your home a sanctuary or an entertaining space? Do you spend your Sundays gardening or watching films? What type of films do you like, where do you like to holiday, what colours and fashions do you like to wear. Answers to these questions will help me build a picture of how you would like your house to look and work.
Our journey involves exploring various design schemes, discussing your preferences, and setting clear boundaries. We will also delve into the practical aspects, such as budgets and lead times, ensuring your active participation and empowerment.
Then, I will do some research. There are so many choices from different suppliers that decorating can be overwhelming; my knowledge of what is available will cut the hours you spend trawling the internet or around showrooms. With your budget in mind, I will pull together a choice of schemes, and when we find the one that feels right, I can put together a definitive shopping list for you to work on, or I can manage the procurement and then possibly installation from wallpaper and painting, through lighting and flooring to furniture and curtains and maybe pictures and vases.
Some projects will take a few hours, such as sourcing fabric to make curtains or upholstering a footstool. In contrast, others will take many months, beginning with floor and lighting plans and ending with the receipt of a fabulous but comfortable sofa to sit on the antique rug that arrived the day before.
